Dr. Jeremy London, a cardiac surgeon, highlighted three supplements that he strongly recommends for daily heart health on TikTok. These include Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), Omega-3 fatty acids, and Magnesium. 1. Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10)
According to Dr. London, CoQ10 is “a powerful antioxidant but more importantly, it is a cofactor for the production of ATP, which is the energy currency of our cells.” Essentially, since the heart is constantly working, it requires a steady energy supply, and CoQ10 helps improve both the strength and efficiency of heart function. CoQ10 levels naturally decline with age, so taking this supplement can be a great idea later in life. It’s particularly helpful for those on cholesterol-lowering statin medications, which can cause your CoQ10 levels to decrease.
2. Omega-3 Fatty Acids
Healthy fats are crucial for heart health. These are plenty of ways to fit this into your diet, but a supplement is another great idea. “Omega-3 is a powerful anti-inflammatory that can help control your lipid level and your overall cholesterol panel,” Dr. London explains. These essential fatty acids, commonly found in fatty fish like salmon and in supplements like fish oil, help keep your blood pressure healthy and reduce the risk of heart disease.
Doctors recommend taking in more omega-3s in the form of salmon and other oily fish and nuts.

3. Magnesium
Magnesium is one of the most common nutrient deficiencies. Ensuring you’re getting enough of this mineral is important to several areas of your health (including weight loss!), especially when it comes to your heart. Magnesium plays a vital role in regulating heart rate and rhythm, Dr. London explains. “Because magnesium relaxes smooth muscle cells, it can help maintain a healthy blood pressure as well,” he adds. Magnesium-rich foods include leafy greens, nuts, and whole grains, but supplementation can help if you’re failing to get enough through diet alone. It can make all the difference!
