Court Rules Cell Phone Caused Brain Tumor

BZZZZZZZT!

A longtime Telecom Italia employee has been awarded monthly social security payments after a court found that his brain tumor was caused by improper use of a company-issued cellphone.

Lawyer Stefano Bertone said Thursday that it was the first trial court verdict of which he was aware in the world “to recognize a link between cellphone use and the development of brain tumor.”

Bertone said one factor that appeared to have contributed to the verdict was the refusal by the court’s expert to accept into evidence studies that were funded by the telecom industry. Continue reading

Is My Neti Pot Going to Kill Me?

Cases of brain-infecting amoebae underscore the importance of purifying water before you pour it into your sinuses.

Allergy season is upon us once more, and for many allergy sufferers, that means it’s time to pull two crucial items to the front of the medicine cabinet: 24-hour non-drowsy loratadine, and a neti pot—a teapot-like device used to flush the nasal passages with saline in order to clear allergens and soothe sinus pressure. (It can be seen in action in this very popular gif.) The constant mockery of my loved ones doesn’t prevent me from using a neti pot to ease my congestion. It’s too effective to give up for the sake of pride. But I have also used my neti pot with considerable apprehension since 2011. Continue reading

So . . . It Turns Out Cancer Can Be Killed After All

“Your lives are going to change forever,” the Urologist told us after removing a golf ball sized tumor from my wife’s bladder. “The cancer has spread into the muscle wall and the only course of action is to remove the bladder. We will have to attach a tube to the kidneys that comes out the side of her body and drains into a bag that she will wear for the rest of her life, much like a colostomy bag. The other option would be to create a neo bladder out of intestinal material, but that has more drawbacks.”

We went home and digested what we had been told. New levels of shock and fear descended upon us as we tried to cope with the news. My wife is only 53, how is this possible? Continue reading

Mastectomy scandal: Half the women who get bilateral removal after genetic testing do NOT have cancer gene – but

… their doctors misread the data, shock study claims

Half the women getting bilateral mastectomies in America do not need one – their doctor misread their genetic test data, a bombshell new study claims.

The rate of women getting preventative mastectomies has sky-rocketed since Angelina Jolie’s 2013 op-ed about genetic testing for cancer risk.

The actress revealed she chose to have both breasts removed, since a test showed she carried the faulty BRCA1 gene which increases one’s risk of breast cancer by 87 percent.

In the four years since, millions of American women have followed suit – rushing to get tested, and – in many cases – proceeding to get their breasts removed. Continue reading

The cancer-causing chemical lurking in YOUR shower

Senators urge FDA to ban dangerous toxin used in scores of bathing products

Chemical 1,4-dioxane – linked to causing cancer in the nose, liver and breast – is found in a number of bath products including shampoos, lotions and soaps.

The toxic substance – 1,4-dioxane – is used in a number of bath products including most pharmacy-stocked shower gels, lotions and even hand soaps.

Despite being identified as a carcinogen, companies are not required to list it on their product labels.

Now, two US Senators are making a big push and calling for the toxin to be banned.

Chemical 1,4-dioxane is a clear liquid that easily dissolves in water. It is used primarily as a solvent in the manufacturing of chemicals and as a laboratory reagent (a substance used to cause a chemical reaction). Continue reading

7th-grader’s science project finds cancer-fighting chemicals in green tea

Stephen Litt has been conducting science experiments since he was in first grade. Every year, the projects became more and more complicated — until finally, as a 7th grader, he came across something that gained national attention.

The 12-year-old boy from Marietta, Georgia, discovered evidence that chemicals in green tea may have cancer-fighting potential.

For this year’s science fair project, he tested epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), an antioxidant in green tea, to determine whether it could prevent breast cancer tumors in planaria, a type of flatworms. Continue reading

New Vaccines Still Cause Autism and Our Government Knows

In the end = we’ll all take it in the end!

Today in the US and a growing number of other countries, the official policy is that any scientific study, regardless of its methodology, quality, author credentials, and peer-reviewed process is summarily dismissed as incomplete, irrelevant or unsupported if it finds a connection between any vaccine or combination of vaccines and autism spectrum disorder.

Even when the CDC’s own immunologist, Dr. William Thompson, whistle-blows and provides thousands of pages of scientific data and research proving a vaccine-autism connection, the matter is rapidly shoved under the table. Continue reading

The Man Who “Discovered” ADHD Made a Startling Deathbed Confession

“ADHD is a prime example of a fictitious disease.” These were the words of Leon Eisenberg, the “scientific father of ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder),” in his last interview he gave before his death at age 87 in 2009.

(While some have described Dr. Eisenberg’s statement as an “exaggeration,” many doctors are coming to the belated conclusion that ADHD is often “over diagnosed” by the use of “fuzzy diagnostic practices.” Harvard psychologist Jerome Kagan, who is one of the world’s leading experts in child development, states: Continue reading

Here’s what happened when I drank a green smoothie instead of coffee every morning for a week
when my editor recently asked our team to try a popular morning-productivity hack for a week and report on the results, the thought of changing anything about my routine gave me the chills. I didn’t particularly want to sacrifice my luxurious 7:30 a.m. wake-up call or make room for intense exercise, so I chose to hack my mornings by eating superfoods. Specifically, I decided to drink those obnoxiously green smoothies you see health nuts walking around with after their workout… (Continue to full article)

This Plant Kills Lyme Disease Better Than Antibiotics, According To Research

Lyme disease is a bacterial infection that affects people of all ages. It’s transmitted by deer ticks and black-legged ticks across the United States, as well as in more than sixty other countries. According to the CDC, at least 300,000 people are infected with Lyme disease each year. Diagnosing Lyme disease can be difficult, because its symptoms mimic many other diseases. It can affect any organ in the body, including the brain and nervous system, the muscles and joints and the heart. Continue reading

The Long History of Discrimination in Pain Medicine

X-rays and other “objective” instruments influenced controversies about whose pain should be believed.

Pain is sometimes easy to understand. You break your arm, and it hurts. It gets better. It hurts less. But pain can also be incredibly hard to understand. Chronic pain. Pain that lingers long after an injury should have healed. Pain that resists an easy association between injury and hurt.

While this kind of “pain without lesion” has long puzzled doctors, the 19th century ushered in a whole new era of controversy, argues the bioethicist Daniel Goldberg in a recent paper, “Pain, objectivity and history: understanding pain stigma.” Continue reading

Lyme disease is about to explode across North America….with no cures in sight

Biologists say that 2017 is going to be a big year for Lyme disease, and that the condition could ravage the United States and other parts of North America. The culprit? An explosion in mice populations across the country, but particularly in the Northeast.

But what do mice have to do with Lyme disease? Ticks and deer are what spread the disease, right? Continue reading
