Kiwi fruit, the surprise secret to nodding off

Eating two of them one hour before bedtime ‘helps people sleep more soundly’

The secret to a good night’s sleep could lie in kiwi fruit.

Eating two of the fruits one hour before bedtime helps people nod off quickly and sleep more soundly, scientists say.

It is not understood why, but it could be linked to high antioxidant and serotonin levels in the fruit.

A month-long study of 24 volunteers with sleep problems conducted by Taiwan Taipei Medical University found they slept 13 per cent longer if they ate the fruit.

And the amount of time it took to fall asleep after going to bed decreased by a massive 35 per cent.
